Let's go traveling in Jordan....

Shall we? Because it is an adventure in keeping yourself alive.

This is Irbed. It is big and sprawling, but my favorite city in Jordan.

Lots of things to see (and smell):

This is the first time I have ever seen wood anywhere in Jordan!

Hairpin turns going downhill from Amman to the Dead Sea.

The occasional herd of random mammals

The more than occasional bad English translation on an auto (which I hear is now illegal)

"Byano (piano) says do. re. me. Forget do...re...but don't forget me" Kind of like a bad Hallmark card.

Downtown Amman (the old part)

There are tons of signs in Jordan to direct the traffic, but if you ask a Jordanian what most of them mean, they really don't know.

Driving in Jordan can be explained as controlled chaos. It seems to work for the most part. A guy can smoke, talk on the cell phone, honk the horn and manage to see every girl there is to see around him without batting an eye.

Speaking of visual overload, advertising is alive and well in Jordan
